Congratulations! You’re getting married! Whether you’re doing it with an intimate group of family and friends, you’re planning the event of the year, or you’re jetting off to a tropical destination, your day is going to be perfect, and I’m here to help!

Planning makes perfect

Marriage is a significant step which will bring a number of changes for you both and your families.

Outlined below I have included how to plan your perfect day.

Getting married in Australia

In Australia, marriage is regulated by the Marriage Act 1961,

which sets out the process for getting married and the legal requirements of a valid marriage.

Legal requirements

We will complete a Notice of Intended Marriage, at least one month prior to your ceremony date.

I will need to see photo ID and evidence of dates and places of birth, for example your passports.

Closer to your ceremony we will also complete the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage,

and your marriage certificates will be signed and witnessed on your wedding day.

Designing your ceremony

This is an example of what your day can look like, together we can design a ceremony that reflects the both you.

Asking

This is where I ask you both what your formal intentions are to each other.

Your vows are a legal requirement stating your commitments to each other and to the marriage.
